Bondi to Coogee Walk - Quintessential Sydney

Tuesday, January 16, 2018

If you live in Sydney, you would have heard of the iconic Bondi to Coogee walk. If you're a tourist, don't worry you'll hear about it in due course, likely from enthusiastic locals raving about the impeccable views and beaches. And they aren't wrong.

If you follow us, you may have picked up on my love for walks (exhibit A, B, C). Despite being one of the most popular walks Sydney has to offer, this 6km path doesn't lose its novelty, regardless of whether it's your second time or 50th.

Although many choose to walk from Bondi to Coogee, you can also choose to reverse the course and drive up to Coogee and walk back. I prefer this alternative because arriving hungry and a little tired in Bondi's food heaven is exactly how I like to spend my Sundays. Coogee on the other hand has good eateries too but the sheer quantity of them makes Bondi the superior choice in my view.

The walk itself isn't strenuous and gives you plenty of opportunities to wander off and explore the beaches that cross your path. For something intimate try Gordon's Bay, for something more urban you can hit up Clovelly, and Bronte is always a popular choice if you're looking to chase Miami vibes. Apart from the beaches, you can also detour to Marks Park or the Waverley Cemetery.

If you want to go even easier on your feet, you can do just half the course -- from Bondi to Bronte. This route is where you'll find Sculptures by the Sea in late October and early November and is an option many take.

It took us about three hours to complete the walk on a very leisurely pace including stopping by for ice-cream and to sit by look outs. After the walk, we headed to Milky Lane, a funky burger joint that made homage to rap music and had enviable vegetarian Mac 'n' Cheese croquettes. A place I highly recommend to all cheese and/or Drake fans.

  2. Okay, I'm not sure if I'm more enticed by the gorgeous beaches, or the mac and cheese croquettes! This looks beyond fabulous. I'm so jealous that you all have these incredible beaches to go to whenever you'd like! I've been dying to get to another beach since the summer. Hopefully one day it'll be in Australia!
